ABOUT PAULINE

As a visual artist and social scientist, Pauline Oosterhoff investigates "public secrets", matters that everyone knows but is not willing or able to acknowledge in public.

Her absurd and staged sculptures, images, drawings, photographs and videos about "invasive species" and "traditional" culture invite the viewer to reflect on their choices about engaging with "the other".

Her work creates a hypothetical past for objects, species or rituals and connects this with our collective memories, desires, aspirations and failures.

She creates autonomous work, commissioned work and co-create programs, interventions and curates expositions and festivals. She co-created and developed the Amnesty International Film Festival (now Movies that Matter). She is interested in providing a space for critical reflection and wonder. She works in a transdisciplinary manner.
